Before getting out of bed in the morning and before going to bed at night perform the following stretching exercises: Keeping the knee straight, place a bath towel around the ball of the foot. Gently pull the toes up towards the knee and hold for 30 seconds. Repeat this exercise 3 times.

Take a bottled of water and place it in the freezer over night. Massage the area of tenderness for 15 minutes by rolling your foot on the bottle 2 to 3 ties per day especially in the evening before going to bed.

Take the anti-inflammatory medication as directed WITH FOOD. If you begin to experience nausea, heartburn or other symptoms, please call the office.

Wear the orthotics whenever you are on your feet because this will help reduce the mechanical causes of the heel pain. Do not go barefoot. Remember, your orthotics may take a few weeks to get used to and may need to be adjusted. Please call the office if you have any questions or problems.

If you have received an injection for your heel pain, it is not unusual to experience some discomfort later on the same day or the following evening. The medication in the injection will then usually begin to relieve the heel pain. In more difficult cases, it is not unusual for the pain to return in 1-2 weeks. It is unusual to experience a great deal of swelling, redness and pain after the injection. If this happens please call the office.

Successful treatment of the heel pain includes effectively reducing the inflammation of the heel and correcting the mechanical cause of the heel pain. Good results depend on your faithful participation of the rehabilitation process. This treatment regimen has proven successful and has helped many people relieve their pain. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our office.
